Chiropractic Care & Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments examine the joints that have lost their normal motion and functionality. When there is undue stress of a joint, it can lead to pain, discomfort and even breakdown or degeneration over time. Chiropractic care allows for proper spinal alignment restoring proper function, which reduces the stress on spinal joints, muscles and nerves. Chiropractic care is mainly known to help with adjusting the spine, however these same techniques can be used for adjusting extremities as well. We have many techniques to perform an adjustment, including manual and instrument-based methods.

Electrical Stimulation & Ultrasound

During this chiropractic therapy, electrodes are placed on the skin sending light electrical impulses to the soft tissues that are injured with the purpose of reducing pain, inflammation and allowing for a faster recovery. Electrical stimulation can be used to treat both acute and chronic symptoms. This therapy is usually described as a tingling sensation.

With ultrasound, sound waves create deep heat therapy that is applied to the soft tissues and joints. Basically, micro-massaging the soft tissues and joints, ultrasound therapy can not only help reduce back pain, stiffness, and spasms, but increase blood flow and accelerate the healing process.

Active Release Technique/Soft Tissue Techniques

Active Release Technique is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement-based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements to remove adhesion’s causing symptoms.

Therapeutic Exercise

Poor movement patterns are learned over time. This can be associated with muscle imbalance, inaccurate posture and movements leading to acute and chronic injuries. Therapeutic exercises are designed to correct the weakness and deficiencies that body is displaying from overuse or injury. Along with chiropractic care these exercises can help restore range of motion and increase strength and body mechanics to allow not only a more effective treatment but also lasting results.

RockTape/Kinesio Tape

When RockTape is applied to the skin, it has a microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin and between the many layers allowing for decreased inflammation, muscle fatigue and pain. RockTape is an elastic endurance tape that has a unidirectional stretch pattern which won’t affect the joint or limit your range of motion. (www.rocktape.com)

Patient Education

At Balance Restored Chiropractic we want to not only treat our patients but also educate them on how they can help manage their condition with/after chiropractic care. We do this by incorporating self-care strategies, home exercises (stretching and strengthening) and ergonomics.
